Touring skis for extra enjoyment of nature

The wonderful mountain world of the Schladming-Dachstein Region also offers wonderful destinations off the slopes in winter. Summit victories, powder snow descents and unforgettable winter impressions - these are the ingredients that give all touring skiers the highest feelings of happiness. Those who are just getting to grips with this sport also have a wide choice of worthwhile destinations - easy and safe to reach.

Trained guides and mountain guides are also on hand to provide you with impressive destinations, including tour planning.

Tobogganing for the young and young at heart

Whizzing down the mountain on a toboggan is huge fun. On the Hochwurzen, a 7 km long toboggan run awaits you from the summit to the entrance to the modern panorama gondola. That's fun, and if you haven't had enough with one descent - off you go in the gondola and with a view of the Dachstein massif you're off again to the summit. Tobogganing in the evening is also particularly fun. The toboggan run is illuminated throughout and we can also highly recommend a cosy stop in one of the huts.

On the Hochwurzen, night also turns into day for skiers! On the brightly lit piste you can still make turns in the snow in the evening.

Popular Snowshoeing & Winter Hiking

Whether with snowshoes or on the many prepared winter hiking trails - discover the charms of the winter wonderland.

Step by step you breathe the clear winter air. The soft white is soothing and we wouldn't be surprised if winter becomes your favourite season during such a walk. When thick flakes fall, the sun's rays make the crystals glisten or the trees wear white bonnets - hardly any season is more varied than winter.

There is also a lot for children to experience on the winter hiking trails - snowball fights, sledding, making snow angels or building snowmen - and all this far away from roads!

Cross-country skiing & skating - gliding gently through the landscape

Cross-country skiing is a particularly healthy sport for everyone. Because everyone chooses the pace according to their own ability and desire. Ambitious sportsmen and women can work off their energy with skating, while connoisseurs can experience the winter landscape from its most beautiful side with cross-country skiing and hiking on the trails. Nearby Ramsau am Dachstein (approx. 7 km away) is the Eldorado of Nordic sports and with more than 220 kilometres of cross-country trails, no wishes are left unfulfilled - especially with the unique panorama at the foot of the Dachstein massif.

For all those who have always wanted to try something new, biathlon can also be tested under instruction in Ramsau!

Horse-drawn sleigh rides - romance and nature experience

Wrapped in warm blankets, a winter horse-drawn sleigh ride is a wonderful experience for animal lovers, families and lovers in love. It is simply wonderful to be pulled through the untouched natural landscape with 2 horsepower. The blowing manes, the little bells on the sleigh and the crunching snow - this is pure romance. Ramsau am Dachstein is Austria's most horse-strongest municipality and here the noble animals are part of the townscape.

They are mostly strong Norikers or Haflingers, the all-rounders among the horses, who effortlessly pull the sledges over snowy paths. And the coachmen also know a few stories to tell on their ride or one or two insider tips for a cosy stop.
